but until then, this drawing'll have to do. I'll try to get more stuff on the ol' blog(promises, promises...) I hope this will hold you lovely people over until the next post. What do you guys think of the black on black? I know it goes against usual illustrative rule but I don't hate this. Let me know! Thanks for coming through!
Just something to get the blood flowing. Dracula is surprisingly fun to draw--he's real gross but sort of dainty too. That makes for some interesting drawing, if you ask me. Take care guys!
I'm not crazy hapy with this one--it feels a little over worked. So I think I'll go over it one more time. That said, it's been printed and framed and will be in the gallery show my company is having tomorrow night, along with "Malinche". *But YOU guys will get the better version later. Take care!
This one's for a gallery show a bunch of story folk here at work are going to have in a week or two. The theme is "Girls!" which is pretty damn convenient from my perspective. Hopefully there'll be three of these paintings done by the deadline--I'd like to do warrior women, like, Joan of Arc and Mulan and all that jazz. This is Malinche.
I know I've been absent for a while, but I plan to pick things back up in a bit. I'm pretty busy this summer as I'm interning at Pixar Animation Studios and things around here tend to get pretty loaded on. But load or no load there's not really an excuse to let my blog keel over so I'll get some stuff up as soon as possible. Things at the studio are super great--the people, the work, the food and all that are just seriously blowing my mind and it's only been one week. The people up here are really hard workers and are preparing to stun the hell out of you so prepare yourselves, seriously. Anyway, stick around guys and thanks for being patient, like I promised, I'll get you somethin soon!
A Side Note to take place of a real post on a post deficient blog: The very adorable clip below is taken from my FAVORITE FILM, Faces by John Cassavetes. I feel like not too mnay people know of this film or they forget about it but it's highly recommended if you're really into character driven stories and just plain awesomeness. Netflix it or don't be cheap and support great film by buying it. Just invite me over to watch when you do.
Here's a panning background I finished last night for a 1 minute short I'm working on. I'm just about done with all of the backgrounds and I'll be animating tomorrow. Good luck to all my pals currently working hard on finishing up their films, you're almost there!
Job fair was earlier this week. I spent tons of time preparing for it and I hope the work paid off( fingers crossed!). Here's another peak at my portfolio--it's just thumbnails but I really like the character explorations in the corner. I'll soon upload the entire portfolio and it's board sequences, so check back for it! Thanks for looking and all of the encouragement you guys have been layin' on me, it kept and continues to keep me motivated.
...but, I've been working hard on my portfolio which is due this upcoming Tuesday...Story is tough stuff. Here's a board just in case you think I've just been picking my nails and eating bon bons this entire time.
and I've kinda gone into hyper drive about it, so I have tones of semi-finished things that aren't post worthy yet. I'm trying to pump out tons of unfinished work so I can narrow things down to the what I want to complete and finally stick in my portfolio..which is due in four weeks. At any rate, to keep my blog from dying heres an extremely quick sketch of "What I Wore Today", inspired by Tiffany Ford and Sophie D. Better stuff next time, I hope! thanks for lookng!
Here's a quick color key for a final painting to be completed a little later, although this has worn on me enough as to where this very well might be the final painting. We'll see. If you feel so inclined to add a theme to this image I highly recommend this.
I Did this Pin Up for my friend Kris Anka's Blog, Les Dames, which you can check out here. This weeks dame of choice was Brigitte Bardot. Thanks for looking!
