Thanksgiving Break!

I've been looking forward to Thanksgiving break this week--it's long over due. Something that's become a new tradition in my family is to go shopping the day after Thanksgiving during what in known as BLACK FRIDAY. duhn, duhn, duhhhnnnn...No, it's not that bad actually and call me crazy but I enjoy the crowds; it's great for people watching. Here are a few sketches of black friday shoppers I did last night in the spirit of the holiday.

Final Pick...?

After getting feed back from friends and peers it seems that the girl on the right of the previous post was the  obvious choice to make. The term "landslide win" has never applied more. I'm still not entirely settled--who knows maybe I'll get crazy and throw something entirely new out there--especially after receiving some advice from an old pal about how both designs could be pushed more. At any rate I did a color pass on the crowd favorite to help bring things a little more in to focus and a little closer to a finished student film.
Baby steps. Baby steps.

Time To Make Choices

I'm about done with the story for my student film this year so it's almost time to start pumping out final boards. As exciting as it is to finally be moving on to the next step there is a problem...I HAVEN'T SETTLED ON FINAL DESIGNS.
After narrowing down my choices I've decided that either one of these girls appearance can support the personality of the character I've been developing. I like em both so I'm finding it a little hard having to choose between the two. What do YOU think?

The Great Batsby..Coming Soon.

Here is a trailer of a short I've been working on while here at Calarts, working titled "The Great Batsby" I plan to have the entire thing done in the following month or two. A lot of hard work has gone into making this film, including re boarding and animating everything after not being entirely happy with the first version. The trailer includes some things from the older version, along with a few new things. Enjoy!

First Assignment of the new year

The assignment was to draw a pig in forest. But the focus was on the environment itself not the actual characters all while still keeping their positions in mind.

Challenge!

My friends Dylan and Kris, and myself are drawing mythical sea creatures. This time around we decided to draw the Cadborosaurus, a sea serpent that allegedly stalks the murky deeps of the Northern Pacific Coastlines. So heres a quick sketch of this elusive creature. Swimmers beware!

Summer Visit!

A friend of mine named Brenda might be visiting me this summer, and I'm pretty excited about it. She asked that I draw her, so I was gonna do a simple caricature or something, but I thought doing a quick vignette would be a better choice. Hope you like it Brenda!

Sea Serpent Colored

Ok its done

Sea Serpent

My buddy and current roomate, Dylan, is working pretty hard so i've taken upon myself to do every project he gives himself( except those lame fantasy art ones, Dylan!) until we finally get started on our bigger weekly assignments. Here is a Sea Serpent sketch( that i'll add color to later), and here is Dylan's.

The Beach Bombs!

Heres a few pages out of my portfolio. I thought it'd be cool to come up with some development art for a 60's Bond-like, inspired film. I like that these type f films are pure fluff with no purpose but to show a middle aged man kickin' ass and getting sexy ladies. I post more " Bond stuff" within the next few days or so. And maybe I'll just post more PERIOD, as the school year is ending and I have no excuse not to.

Color&Light

These Are A Few of Henry Yu's Storyboards for his student film this year. He asked me to help him out with the color and lighting so he could achieve the look he was going for so I took some of his already amazingly composed penciled boards and did this:
He was pretty happy with the final result. Glad to help, Henry!

I Hated bubbles as a kid

As a kid I was the weird one who hated bubbles. But drawing them aint so bad! Here is more Art for my friends band, An Inconvenient Polar Bear. He wanted a pretty girl blowing bubbles . This will be the backdrop on the bands myspace page, which will be created this thursday.
Here is a detail on the girl in the earlier stages.

Cuban Coke Lords: Are They Really That Bad?

This is a sketch of a cuban gangster I did for my character design class. I imagined the guy would be sorta sleazy looking with slick hair. He might own a yacht filled with sparsely clad latinas and barrels of coke and is numero uno Florida's most wanted list.

It's about that Time Again

Every year here at school the students are encouraged to complete a student film. I did one last year which was a pretty cool experience filled with a lot of work production and lack of sleep. That second part doesn't sound too great at all, but it was part of the magic required to complete the daunting task of making a student film. And I'm gonna do it again! Here are a few thumbnail layouts and film art for this year.
